Obituary

Lyle A. Lyons Sr. a citizen of the Seneca Nation passed away on June 7, 2021 of
complications from major surgery. Born February, 4, 1935 on the Onondaga
Nation territory, upstate New York. Lyle is pre-deceased by his parents, Winifred
Gordon Lyons and Oren R. Lyons Sr. He is pre-deceased by four brothers Loren
Lyons, Wayne Lyons, Irving Lyons Sr., Lee A. Lyons, one sister Shirley Lyons
Goode, his son Lyle A. Lyons Jr. and Sharon Lyons.
Lyle is survived by wife Dora Cobar Lyons and their two sons Wayne G. Lyons
and David Lyons Sr. He is also survived by Norma Lyons, Arnold wife of his first
marriage and daughter Jeanine Lyons Glenn (Clarence), twelve grandchildren,
several nephews and nieces. His brothers Oren R. Lyons Jr. and Kingsley Lyons
Sr. Highlighted and attended by his grandson David Lyons Jr.
Lyle grew up hunting, fishing, and playing lacrosse on the Onondaga Nation. He
was dedicated to the longhouse traditions. He was a Navy veteran. Lyle was a
union member of the High Steel Iron Workers building bridges and buildings
across America wherever the work took him. Work in San Francisco and Los
Angeles brought him to the west coast where he met and married his present wife
Dora. Lyle settled in Los Angeles integrating with the large Native American
community there. He was superintendent and managed several apartment
complexes with his wife Dora. Lyle will be buried at the U.S. Veterans cemetery in
Los Angeles California, July 6, 2021 at 12:30pm.
